English as a Second Language/ English Literacy Development
The academic journey of an English language learner features more complex challenges as learning the language of instruction must be mastered while learning the curriculum. Our mission is to provide students with real-life language-learning opportunities, to help students develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills required to become responsible and productive global citizens.
The learning of English, as a second language, should never be the dismissal or the erasure of one’s first language and/or culture. We value and celebrate students’ linguistic and cultural identities, and encourage bilingualism and biculturalism. We support students in their English language acquisition journey growth towards full linguistic and cultural competence
